Low RatioNow running at a low 1:2 ratio for a more personalized hands on family-style care for your little one. This means that your child will join our family outings, library visits, playgroups, museum visits, and school pick up of daughter in jk. Your child will be a part of our family while you work. Providing a family-style care system allows for seamless transitions between day and evening as well as between weekdays and weekends, while still harnessing their social enjoyment of a play-friend their age on a daily basis.
Bright Main-Floor DaycareThe entire area where the kids spend their day (playroom, craft and eating area, and washroom) is on the main floor with absolutely no time at all spent in the basement. The playroom has three large windows which can be opened from the top for safety, to let in the fresh air as weather permits.
We can walk EVERYWHERE!
We run a nature-focused program with many walks and exploring outside. We are within walking distance to the Agriculture and Food Museum (horses, pigs, sheeps, ducks, and more!) where we have a membership, the Ornamental Gardens, the Arboretum, Hogs Back Falls and Park, Mooney's Bay Beach and of course a nice neighborhood play structure and swings at Lexington Park.
Large Private Fenced YardOur yard is incredibly large and very private and is fully fenced with a locked gate. There are many trees of all sorts and the birds, bunnies, and squirrels often stop by for visits.
Attachment Parenting FriendlyAt Sprout & Bloom we take a gentle sleep approach, we practice child-wearing, and we are baby-led weaning (food offering style) and cloth diaper friendly. We honour the need for sleep and do not rush dropping the morning nap, and allow for it in our schedule until it is dropped, and adjust our schedule while it is being dropped (earlier lunch for example). Let's discuss what works for your child and we will do our best to build it into our program.
LanguagesI hope to introduce kids to languages as early as possible and will spend time on a regular basis reading, playing, practicing, and listening to music in French and Spanish, with our days spent speaking French half of the time, and English the other half.
We also use baby signs (American Sign Language) to help bridge the gap between the early age that children understand and are able to communicate, and the age at which they gain words. Check out Our Signs page to keep up on the kids current and growing 'vocabulary'! Children have the most incredible aptitude for language - let's not let it go to waste :) Food and NutritionWe practice Baby Led Weaning with the wee ones, which means that they basically eat what we eat and feed themselves. This has ensured that everyone eats healthy! We don't use packaged 'baby foods', we find that their ease comes with a compromise on health and nutrition. Instead, we cook from scratch with minimal salt and sugar and offer a balanced diet that will help grow non-picky eaters for life.
